#nofear

Updates from last week...Work started Tuesday morning, delivery came and it amazed me, not just how the guys walked around up there, but heaved the loads of shingles off the pallet hanging from the crane and stacked them in piles.

A close up

Today our windows were delivered so Mike, The Carpenter, has his work cut out for him.
And FB Bill was out to set up the garage for pouring tomorrow.
Weather will probably give us more delays this week....but this place is actually starting to look like a house!

I got gas

Well, before I clarify the title of this post, I figured an update on the roof progress is in order. Because as we all know getting the roof done is impacting the forward progress of the rest of the job. Concrete won't go in without roof, Stairs won't go in without concrete, HVAC won't go in without stairs.
So, last we updated my roofer was on schedule to shingle on Wednesday and by golly he was ready. However, the carpenters were not. So the promise was that the roof would really be ready by the end of Thursday...and it was...not.  They were back at it again today.  Take a look at the progress pics:

Also, Thursday was a great day for GAS. Nicor came back and using boring machinery they were able to get our supply in.

Update on all that

Checked in this morning and the sheathing was not much further along...
Below is what it looked like at the end of the day...still quite a bit to finish tomorrow.

Me following the boring truck out of the driveway
Also, this morning Nicor showed up. But then left. The JULIE locate was not done. Rescheduled work for Thursday.

We also got our delivery of tubs and some plumbing materials, but my plumber's got a bum foot, so here's hoping he'll be on site tomorrow (phone call not returned thus far).

Lastly, spoke to FB Bill about the basement and garage pours. He's waiting til after shingles...which reminds me, our roofer is (the only one) still on schedule to come in Wednesday and put it on. We'll see if he can keep his word....no one else seems to.

Roof delays and Cabinetry/Floor selections

So this morning I headed out to the site to check out our completed roof. However, very little was done. The crew was there to work today. Apparently it got too windy so they had to quit sheathing on Friday at 1:30. And they didn't work Saturday. They've been given a deadline to have everything done tomorrow end of day because the roofer says he'll be ready to shingle Tuesday or Wednesday. I did place a call to the concrete guy to hopefully get a pour Monday or Tuesday. He didn't call back yet, but hoping he'll sneak us in.
In other news the plumber should get a delivery tomorrow and so he is supposed to work all week doing the rough ins. Once he's mostly done our HVAC guys should be up next (I told them to tentatively plan on next Monday) and then the rough electric.
I'm also perplexed b/c Nicor was supposed to do the gas last week, but didn't. So thinking they should be coming in this week as well.
We made final selections on kitchen cabinetry and bathroom vanities and placed those orders to take advantage of an extra discount that was running through today. In doing those selections we are also set on our main flooring. Below is the floor and the cabinet colors (not style, style will be shaker). We also picked all the knobs and handles. Hardware comes with the purchase if you choose theirs, so we'll make do. The grey will be the island, the barrel color will go on the perimeter.
Now we are just waiting for Labor Day to take advantage of some (hopefully) awesome sales on all the appliances and lighting that we already have picked out.
